Telegram downtime

For the last month, at least, the T&G website has been barely available before noon each day. If this was a company that took it’s online presence seriously, whoever handles their customer facing IT would have been shit canned a long time ago. It’s an embarrassment and terribly unfortunate since there’s very little in the T&G each day that cannot be found elsewhere, so there’s no compelling reason to wait for them to wake up each day unless you’re really jonesing for your court-house records fix..
If you don’t think waiting on a site is a big deal here’s some info on a talk Google VP Marissa Mayer gave on page load times a few years back. Google saw a 20% decrease in traffic due to a half second increase in page load time. Point being, it doesn’t take much to loose a readers attention.

It’s really hard to believe a media company is still trying to figure out how to handle a content delivery.

So what else is new at the T&G?
The access problems have been an issue for several years now. I suspect they’re required by corporate to use the 208… IP, although the NY Times uses a different ISP.
You’re right about customer service. If you can’t offer consistent access, then as a business, your days are numbered.
Bye bye T&G. Then we’ll just have Jordan for news and commentary.
