Amazing numbers coming from the NYT today with advertising revenue slipping another 16.2 percent. But as seems to be the case with every financial release from the Times, it’s the New England media group, which includes the Telegram, that’s sucking hardest.
The company’s flagship The New York Times paper had 15.3 percent lower ad revenue. At its New England media group, which includes The Boston Globe, July ad revenue dropped 24.5 percent.

Yeah, it’s just so sad to see the demise of the NYT and it’s mini-versions like the T&G. Of course, Worcester will always have a newspaper (pop. 150,000 guarantees that) but if we’re gonna have a struggling, barely readable local press I’d just as soon have it be locally owned/focused.
I know I wouldn’t buy the T&G from the NYT, but maybe there’s someone out there with large cash and a vision for making it work.
Being one of the few subscibers left , I’ve notice that the local news is more directed to Northern Worcester County, like theFitchburg/Leominster area and not Worcester itself. I’m guessing its because of staff reductions but what do I know.
I’m not planning on renewing my subscription this time around. If anything I would probably just get the Sunday delivered.
